Belakangan aku lagi tergila2 sama Sandhy Sondoro *telat yah*. Suaranya itu lhooooo…… mampu membuatku menitikkan air mata… hixhixhix… EH, BENERAN!!! Pas denger dia nyanyi “When a man loves a woman”, suaranya menggetarkan hati kayak om Michael Bolton……… Huwaaaaa………………

DUA PULUH LIMA

Hari ini aku sedang merayakan kehidupanku selama seperempat abad di dunia ini. Yeahhh… aku dilahirkan di jaman2 susah itu. Gimana gak susah, jaman dulu mana ada waterbirth ato semacamnya, yang ada emakku kerepotan mengeluarkan aku (versi bayi) yang ‘ngotot’ keluar secara terbalik: Kaki duluan (breech). Harusnya aku merayakannya tadi jam 7 pagi, karna konon kabarnya si emak melahirkanku jam segitu.

Di saat aku merayakan kebahagiaan karna sudah matang dan cukup umur sebagai ‘orang dewasa’, ucapan selamat dan rasa hormat itu mestinya disampaikan kepada kedua orang tuaku. Mereka telah seperempat abad mengalami kerepotan karena punya anak seperti aku!!! Wah, hebat… Kerepotan2 macam apakah itu??? Berikut ini liputannya… *halah*

Tour de Solo

We visited Solo (Surakarta) yesterday just to get out of our daily tiring business. Jogja-Solo was about 1 hour trip by car. We spent half day in the town for traveling around these most popular places.

Keraton

Keraton, karaton, or kraton, originally created from the word ke-ratu-an, means the place where the queen/king lives. Keraton Solo (or Keraton Surakarta) lays on southern land of Solo city.

Along the tour around Keraton, we will be guided by a traditionally-dressed tour guide who will explain all about history of Keraton and king’s family. In some part of the building (especially on the sandy area), we’ll be asked to put off our sandals (while shoes are allowed to wear).

Today is my parents’ day

Hari ini adalah perayaan untuk kedua orang tuaku. Yang pertama, hari ini adalah hari ibu. Yang kedua, hari ini juga hari ulang tahunnya papaku yang ke-53. Tanggal 20 Desember kemarin juga hari ulang tahunnya mamaku yang ke-51, jadi hari ini juga blm basi2 banget utk merayakan hari ulang tahunnya.

Sebenarnya dari kemarin2, bahkan dari tahun lalu, aku sudah menyiapkan kado spesial buat mereka. Tapi ternyata si kado gak bisa selesai tepat waktu…

Ya, aku berencana lulus bulan ini sebenarnya. Tapi dengan jadwal yang sudah sebegini mepetnya (tanggal merah di mana2) dan kesibukan dosen pembimbingku yang membuat beliau tidak bisa menguji tesisku bulan ini, kelulusanku juga terpaksa ditunda. InsyaAllah tahun depan (berarti bulan depan) aku sudah boleh minggat dari fakultas tercinta yang selama ini membesarkan namaku… *apasih*

Mama, papa, maaf yah janji belum bisa kutepati, hehehe… I love you, muah!

Gadri Resto: Being one-day-King

Gadri Resto is Javanese restaurant which is located in front of Keraton’s parking area. As a traditional restaurant, the ambiance is totally adopted from Keraton (King Palace in Yogyakarta). It was founded in 1984 by GBPH Joyokusumo, younger brother of Hamengkubuwono X (Sultan of Keraton Yogyakarta). Special foods by special recipes from Keraton are now available for us to enjoy.

Arapaima ‘Paimo’ gigas

The Arapaima is one of the largest freshwater fishes. Their habitat is in American tropical river, Amazon. Arapaima can reach lengths of more than 2 m, in some exceptional cases even more than 2.5 m and over 100 kg (WOW!!!). These 5 year-old Arapaimas in pictures and video below belong to a collector living in Monomartani, Yogyakarta. The largest of these two reaches more than 2.3 m long and weighs about 130 kg. They eat fishes, chickens, or meats everyday and they create a ‘popping’ sound when they catch their meals (it’s more than just a popping sound actually…). This kind of fish is one of the most expensive fishes. A baby Arapaimas might costs more than IDR 8 million in Indonesia. I wonder how they could arrived in Indonesia… is it legal animal trading…? Hmmmmm………………….
